Mark Fixes Stuff pickups haul including a clear resin 3D printed Amiga A600 case from PCBWay

I’d been collecting a stack of boxes for a while, so this is a big one: pickups, loans, a box of Japanese “junk”, and the first look at the clear resin Amiga A600 case that PCBWay printed for my fire-damaged A600. This video was supported by PCBWay, who did the 3D printing.

A Jaguar GD and a custom joystick

First, a small package from RetroHQ: a Jaguar GD game drive, with a USB connector and a microSD slot. RetroHQ’s packaging is the same type that saved my Neo Geo Pocket game drive from the fire, and their cartridges are the gold standard as far as I’m concerned. A review is coming.

Next, a box tied into the A600 project from Immortal Joysticks: a custom arcade-style stick built to my spec, with the buttons exactly where I asked and my own colour scheme. The action is lovely, it’s heavy enough not to skid around the desk, it has a braided cable, and the rear buttons handle autofire. A proper review will tie in with the fire-damaged Amiga.

A Philips CD-i 450 from Dave Hall

Dave Hall traded me a Philips CD-i 450 (badged Magnavox in the US) for an NTSC 3DO, along with a pile of games, a controller in remarkably good condition and a well-packed UK power supply. I had a full CD-i system before the fire, donated by Adam Ainsworth, but lost it, and never got much time with it. This one has the MPEG module fitted and does seem to work, so I might stream something on it.

Japanese junk via Zen Market

Zen Market proxies bids on Yahoo Auctions Japan, so this box was a few consolidated auctions: a grubby PC Engine multitap for about £3, a pack of three One Piece WonderSwan games for testing, a WonderSwan Color with a totally burnt screen (replacement screens are available), and another 3DO. That 3DO powers on and shuts off after a while (capacitors, no doubt), but it’s an early Japanese model with the A/B mode switch, so it can output 240p rather than only 480i. Shipping cost more than I’d planned.

DC Digital 2 for the Dreamcast

A DC Digital 2 Dreamcast HDMI kit, bought direct from Black Dog Tech, cost about £40 just to clear customs. My last one died in the fire, and it came from a seller I’ll never buy from again. This one is going into a Dreamcast with a non-working drive alongside a GDEMU, in a purple replacement shell so I don’t have to drill an original case.

Spectrums from Scott Goodman and Archimedes on loan

Scott Goodman, the Nth Doctor, is downsizing and insisted his Spectrums come to live with me: a grey +2 gone almost army green with age, a 48K Spectrum+, a 48K rubber key and some tapes including Oh Mummy. They’ll be cleaned up, and if Scott’s situation changes, he can have them back.

Channel patron Damien Sloan has lent me his Acorn Archimedes kit from Australia, which got lost for almost a month and cost £110.94 in import duty. There’s an A3010 and an A3000, Goteks to install, a three-button mouse and what looks like an RGB SCART lead. I’ve never worked on an Archimedes, so it’s a great chance to learn the platform.

There was also a grimy Exidy Sorcerer found in a local group for about £40, with some sort of fluid leaked over the keyboard. That one needs TLC in a future video.

The clear resin Amiga A600 case

Finally, PCBWay’s box: a couple of handy component rulers, a spare tray for my Tatung Einstein Gotek mount, and the main event, a 3D printed Amiga A600 case in clear resin (customs charged about £54). It’s varnished to hide the layer lines, and I genuinely couldn’t find support marks. The model is by sgw32 on CGTrader. The fire-rescued A600 board is going in it.
