This is the video I never thought I would be making on the channel, and it took me a couple of attempts to get through it. In October 2021 my house caught fire. It was where I did all the filming, all the repairs and all the projects, and everything in it was gone. My family is safe, and that is what matters most.
What happened
The building behind me in the video is my house. Every tool, every console, every computer: mine and some other people’s things that were in for videos. All gone. I shared some photos taken before the house was boarded up.
On the left of one photo you can see the racks that held all of my machines. Drives, projects, cameras, lights: every single thing was literally vaporised.
Why I made this video
I do not like to make a fuss about things, but everybody who watches the channel deserves to know what happened. I did not know what to say or think at the time. Huge thanks to the fire service, and thank you all so much for your kind comments. Neil from RMC insisted I add my Patreon link, so here it is: patreon.com/markfixesstuff.
Thank you all so much for your kind comments. I will be back.
What came next
I did come back. The rebuild became the Phoenix Project, starting with a makeshift workspace and going back into the house to salvage what I could. Later restorations of fire survivors include a soot damaged Intellivision with a Pi Pico multicart.
