Sega Master System II console, control pad and games donated to Mark Fixes Stuff

It’s not often I get this excited about an unboxing, but this one was free and, for a change, it’s something that works and I can just play. Anthony Wildin sent me a Sega Master System II with a control pad and a couple of games, very well packed, and he even paid the postage. Remarkably, I didn’t own a Master System until this arrived.

Unwrapping the parcel

First out was an RF cable in mint condition. Everything else was wrapped in local newspaper, which, as always, I couldn’t resist reading out on camera: discount shop flyers, a new fire station plan and some stairlift adverts.

A dirty little Master System II

The console itself is a Master System II, grubby but complete. The Master System II only has RF out, so I’ll need a way to get proper video from it. My Samsung 6000 series TV tunes into anything over RF (even a ZX81), so I’ll probably try it on that first. The longer-term plan is to open it up and add some kind of AV output.

The control pad and games

Next was a square Sega control pad, which Anthony had clearly cleaned. It took me straight back. Last were two games: Olympic Gold (waggle yourself to death) and the classic Sonic the Hedgehog, which my children will be playing until they cry.

Anthony, thank you very much.
