The AmigaDOS Manual 3-in-1 reference guide

Found another useful retro computing PDF: The AmigaDOS Manual, the 1986 three-in-one reference guide. If you have ever turned on the CLI on an Amiga and wondered what else AmigaDOS can do beyond the Workbench, this is the book. It is free to download at the bottom of this post.

Three manuals in one

The AmigaDOS Manual combines three separate publications:

  • The AmigaDOS User’s Manual
  • The AmigaDOS Developer’s Manual
  • The AmigaDOS Technical Reference Manual

The User’s Manual

This part is of interest to every Amiga user. AmigaDOS understands many more commands than are accessible from the Workbench, and if you use Preferences to turn on the CLI, those commands become available.

The Developer’s Manual

This describes how to use AmigaDOS from within a program rather than from a command line interface. It also fully documents the Amiga Macro Assembler and Linker (the Macro Assembler itself was sold as a separate product).

The Technical Reference Manual

This covers the data structures AmigaDOS uses internally, including how DOS disk data is stored and the format of the object files AmigaDOS uses. Developers and expert users will find this section very useful.

Together, these three publications in a single volume make up the essential guide to AmigaDOS.

Not sure of the legal status of sharing this, but it is no longer in print or for sale, so I think it is safe.
